For the fictional collection of ballet, the specific technology I used was the Durham School of the Arts (DSA) Library Media Center's (LMC) catalog in order to find books that were in the school, YouTube was also used to find the book trailers of the books, and finally I used the resource of NoveList Plus to find books and their summary. The research skills that I gained from the findings of the fiction collection was learning how the catalog of the school's library can be useful when finding books that one is exactly looking for as it can filtered to find one's needs. Also how I learned that NoveList Plus is a good source when trying to find a wide range of books that might not be in the library. These skills can be applied to future academics by how I now know that I can use the resource of NoveList Plus to find books that are in a reliable database rather than looking around in websites that might be inaccurate. Another thing is how book trailers can help me further when choosing a book as it will be able to influence me to either get the book or not get it since it is a description of a book in video form which makes it more interesting compared to just reading the description.
For the nonfiction collection of ballet, the specific technology I used was the DSA LMC's catalog in order to find books that were in the school, SIRS database resource to find a reliable source for ballet, NCWiseOwl database resource to find sources for information on ballet, Gale database for another resource on ballet, and finally I used the internet (Google) to find scholarly website on ballet information. The resource skills that I gained from the findings of the nonfiction collection was how I realized how helpful the database resources that the school provides were since I never used them often before. I also learned that I should use the CRAAP test to evaluate if the website is reliable of not because on the internet there are many websites that are not very informational. These skills can be applied to future work life by finding resources that work provides so I could use them to fullest since not every work place has those resources or they will just wasted. I also now know that there are different ways to check a resource to see if it is reliable whether it is for research in work or just trying to find a job.
In the bookmark playlist, the technology I used was Spotify in order to get the music into a playlist, NCWiseOwl's NoveList Plus for the book jacket of the book, the website of "bit.ly" to shorten the playlist link, and finally a QR code generator website in order to make the QR code from the Spotify playlist. There were library skills that I gained throughout making this bookmark like how I learned how to use resources efficiently and effectively in order to create it by going on to the internet to make sure the song's meaning made sense for the chapter I chose or how if I had a question or needed help, I was able to ask and didn't shy away from it. These skills can be applied to future academics by knowing that I should work on projects in a timely matter more ahead so I would have extra time to fix up things or to just not have to worry about it anymore. Another thing would be how in the future, if I need to shorten a link, I know what website to go to as before I never even knew that one could shorten a link. One more thing that this could help in the future academically is how one can use outside resources to clarify things if one is unsure like I did with the song's meaning.
When making the booktrailer, the specific technology I used was certain sites like "Pixabay", "Freeplaymusic", and "Easybib" for the booktrailer's images and music, google slides to actually make the booktrailer, "Screencastify" to film it, and finally a video compressor in order to have to video fit in a file. Skills that I honed from this project is the act of being creative and working with what resources I have as I had to beware of copyrighted music and images along with making sure I can take information from the book and organize it well on a video format. These skills can be applied to future work life by being able to know that there are resources that I can use that aren't copyrighted for papers or projects for work. Along with know how if I do want to use a copyrighted work, there is a process I have to do in order to use it. All these skill can also be used in academics plus the knowledge on how to make a booktrailer so if I want to do it for a project or if I need to do it in a class, I have the availability to do so now.
